Anyone in college on an ROTC scholarship (any service) with a foreign language major? Questions for ya.....

1. What language?

2. How's that workin' for ya? Ya know, do you like it or do you regret choosing that for a major? Is it hard like engineering?

3. Some foreign language degree programs require you to do 1-2 semesters abroad in the country of your major. How can ya do that if you're in ROTC? No detachments in foreign colleges.

4. When you graduate, will your job relate to the language that you studied or do they just give you any officer job based on the needs of the service? Navy has this Restricted and Unrestricted Line Officer term that I'm not quite clear on in regards to ROTC graduates.

Thanx much!

WTFO,

I can not believe that you posted this. Your tag IDs you as an AF vet and as such you know you are held to a higher standard, especially by fellow Air Force types. Please correct this post to conform to the English language and not the slang that seems to be the current method of discussion found in most high school hallways.

Whoa! Throttle back, Chainsaw.... you don't know me well enough to assume you can talk to me like you're crazy.
But I excuse you.
And now I ask that you forgive me for assuming this website allows for an informal exchange between grown people. That's why I asked where is the college ROTC forum (in my previous thread).
I absolutely appreciate your no-slang rule.
I didn't realize I was using slang. Silly me, I thought I was being colloquial. My laid-back attitude in my forum-writing was meant for a laid back forum, not to further corrupt the kids in your hallway.
I sincerely apologize.
Clearly this site is not for me.
You may delete my thread as well as my membership.
I will not be back.

Take Care :)

Forum Members.

This is an example of what NOT to do here in these forums. This young person more than likely is NOT Prior Service, so we must forgive him for his lack of RESPECT and his lack of proper Communication Skills.

As Service Members we are taught to communicate as effectively as we can, to make clear and concise orders to those we are charged with. Obviously this person has never been in that position and would rather follow his own course.

To prevent my Cadets from getting involved in this,

The StormCrow suggests that this thread be locked and this matter be taken to PM. I further request that the thread be archived to keep good spirits in the Cadet areas.

WTFO reminds me of the 2 or 3 Austrailian Cadets who WAY over asserted thereselves on the old Cadet Forum. Yeah, they ended up like this guy.........

I agree C/Zoomie... plus blasting BillyD is a big nono... but in an answer to the original question regardless...

I am a Log. Major, involved in AFROTC and hopefully going to minor in Japanese. So, it would be some extra coursework cause depending if you are going for a BA or a BS, cause in a BA its required to take a foregn language, BS not but you can if you want to and can handle the extra hours.

After this, I also second the motion for a Lock and Archive.

Cadets, in the future, commentary is not required when someone decides to put their fourth point of contact on display. This young person obviously still believes that he is still in high school and this is a chat room and my mistake for taking him at his word based upon his dog tag. I presumed, since he declared he was prior service, he understood the standards and the need to enforce them. I also expected, based on his statemtent of being prior Air Force, that he would still adhere to the AF Core Values since he was participating in a cadet program (ROTC) and a military forum.

WTFO, if you think I was harsh on you, just PM Stormcrow, I am sure he could relate a story or two. I simply requested, one AF member to another, that you adhere to the standards.
