A lot of cool graphics that people put as their signatures in the threads. Can anyone explain to me how to do that, all of these look really cool and interesting and i wanna learn how to do that. I've tried to do it in paint but i cant ever do it

What kinds of graphics? Like signature types with names and a picture in the background, or something like the ribbon racks that some people wear in their signatures? Or a little of both (or a lot of both I don't know...)?

A little bit of both really.. Like I don't get how they get the picture in the backround and then they get like smaller graphics that show stuff such as rank and rounded items without the white backround part around it showing up

Well, the ribbon racks I've already built a few but i don't like them because they dont show alllll of my ribbons such as certain summer camp ribbons and raider attendance so its kinda pointless because those are the ribbons i take the most pride in.

I use paint to fill in the background and then use Microsoft Word to put several pictures together. My signature is just two pictures grouped together then copied into a photo editing program and saved as a jpeg.

My signature comes from a commercial website, unfortunately they don't do JROTC awards.

As far as designing your own, if you use something like Photoshop you should be able to make your backgrounds for things that aren't a perfect rectangle transparent and layer everything so it looks right.

there is also a freeware program called Artweaver that I have started playing with that is very similar to Photoshop.

Nice recommendation Billyd. I just checked it out and its pretty nifty. Not AS good as Photoshop or Dreamweaver, but for the price (free!), you really can't complain if you don't have either of the said programs that cost more money than they're worth for simple stuff. Very cool. :satisfied:

I do my own in Adobe Photoshop. I have done a few for folks here with the correct input. Most times a 1.5 x 8 inch at 72-100 dpi jpeg, gif or tiff file works well here. I host mine using photobucket.com as the source site and just plug in the code into my signature block. Examples can be seen around the forum to be sure.

I have checked out the site you use in the past, it is very good. But only if you were in an actual service or ROTC. I have spoken to the creator of the website, he said that if enough people would show interest in a JROTC signature then he would make it possible. Unfortunately he knows nothing about JROTC and would need cadets' help.

Sounds like an opportunity for a couple of cadets to excel. How about a current cadet (or two) take on that project and see how much interest there is.

I would be willing to help out if it was needed.

As would I. Just hit my up with a PM or something and I would be happy to employ myself to help out.

There's a program that you can download the trial version...Its called Banner Maker Pro...I forgot where to get it though, but I am confident that if you put the name into Google, it will find it for you.

Well, as things 'settle in' I'm sure we'd get a large enough cadet base to do this. As well as with other forums I'm sure many of you visit. The immediate 'difficulty' I see with them doing this, however, is the "large" size of some cadet's racks. In my case, I left with 27 ribbons, which is more than any of the options they present now will display. The free layouts show 2 rows of 9 with a couple badges (PhilK uses this layout) and the paid ones only show 24 ribbons with more badge and patch options (something like mine). If they'll add cadet awards then I'm also certain that many cadets would provide the correct info, but at the same time don't pester them to changing all their backend stuff to make the layouts work for those with an excessive amount of awards. Also, I'd suggest only the Headquarters directed awards be added since each unit creates ribbons for some things, and there's things like Drill Meets where you get awards that would make it absolutely impossible to get EVERY cadet award there is.

I use banner maker pro, adobe and my favorite one Military Signatures. It really is not that hard to do. Storm and I have made a few in paint, and banner maker pro, which has helped us a lot.

Armysc_25b I know what website you used, Military Signatures. It's a great website but It does cost a little bit of money to make them like yours.

To get the nice graphics, yes it does require a small donation. However I see no problem in doing so for the service those guys are providing.

Another freeware program that is very good is called GIMP. It's also very similar to Photoshop.
