Context is being lost when quoting someone who quoted someone else... can someone flip the switch on nested quotes please?

That would be a PITA to sift through and a waste of space too. Copy and paste the initail comments then wrap quotes ( the li'l quote button at the top there when your typing your post) around it, it's faster.

I'm able to do nested quotes, in the Cadet Forum. Then again, maybe having mod abilities and the capability to copy the original post (including the quotes there) then wrap that with quotes might have something to do with it...

When one hits quote, everything's done. How is adding a step to that faster?
Just so I understand what you're saying, you don't think it would be a good idea to allow nested quotes because its use may inconvenience people by allowing them to follow a conversation via just one post?
And your solution is to manually perform the the function that the quote button already does for you?
How 1994 of you...

Don't feel too bad Smiles - this one told me I was right out of 1996.
He's like a walking almanac of the Intarwebs development timeline.

You love me already... you know you do.
This has been addressed, btw, so a thread lock would not be inappropriate.
Yeah, you've grown on me kinda like a fungus.

Ahhh... you've been on a float.
Ringworm spreads like wild fire in a berthing compartment, doesn't it?
Don't you just hate those showers on board ship with the head of the drains a half of inch above the decking, so there is always a couple of gallons of nasty bildge water slopping back and forth in rough seas.
Along with all the vomit, urine, and feces.
How I miss the boat.

It was more along the lines of...IF you really have to quote the last ten replies!! It's not really that hard, really! More times than not, the person before ya already quoted the guy before him, who quoted the guy before him, who quoted another guy before...see the pattern? Copy n paste, there's no reason to have it nest every time, especially when folks usually pick out a sentence or two.
Maybe we should post with smaller words and shorter instructions, knowing that men can't follow any given instructions or ask even for directions...would that help your prehistoric thought process? I mean honestly, how many dang posts are ya gonna quote or actually use each time ya post? By the time you're done, we will have skipped over an entire page that we already read a couple pages back so you could nest quote! Hmmm.....

Oh yeah...raise your hand if you can still read a map to the point where you actually get from point A to point B and not just in the general area! ***raising hand*** We know that Bill's directionally challenged already...anyone else?:p

Uh huh...and can you remember what were the last set of directions you actually read, pics don't count, and can you remember in how many languages it came in? Your Honey-Do list doesn't count (and Husbandese IS a language of it's own) ! ;)

As a matter of fact, I can read a map and get form A to B via C. No problem. the GPS just means I no longer have to fold the map while driving the family truckster. I have an uncanny sense of direction, I get lost in my own house :o

Actually, I do remember. It was for the desk in my bedroom. That said, there's no honey-do list lying around waiting for me to get to; there's no honey to write it!
I have one problem with my GPS, and most of the online "map and direction" sources, that being that my current residence is about 100 feet off the road in the woods.

My oldest boy's real bad, I can walk him out to the middle of the road in front of the house, with his eyes closed, spin him in a circle and he wouldn't know how to get home!:lookaround:

Shoot, I have a mommy-do list that just won't quit. The Honey doesn't live here at the moment, but I wasn't usually the one that wrote one in the past, it was easier to do it myself than waste paper.:dontgetit:
So mapquest sees you as a Grizzly Adams, out in the middle of nowhere? Maybe you're lost and you just don't know it yet.:p

Or they need to update their maps more than once a decade. The subdivision I'm living in is 4 years old for the oldest units, yet with every service except for Yahoo, the road doesn't exist and it's still nothing but woods. Kinda funny when you do the Google Street View, put the view right where the street should be, and see the street that "doesn't exist".

Could be worse, a friend of mine lives in lake and the lake's been there longer than I've been alive! My address isn't acknowledged in mapquest so they start my directions just north of town. We have one stop light, that should be enough to get some acknowledgment.:(
I don't like GPS, if it knows where I'm going then so do others and I don't like big brother watching my every move. On Star's for those who fear adventure!:D

I have never been lost in my life! I've been confused for a couple of weeks, but I new that wherever I was at, that was were I was.
I also don't stop to ask directions. I just make great time getting to where I arrive!

Look sweetcheeks, I've had just about as much of you as I am willing to stand. I have nothing invested here that will keep me from putting you in your place. You don't know, at all, what you are talking about and you should stop, just so you don't continue to show just how little you know about how forum software works.
It has nothing to do with my reading comprehension of your workaround for a this place lacking a feature that takes one keystroke to activate.

And if you don't care for the way this software is configured, no one is forcing you to utilize it. We have an administrator that make the configuration decisions and it will remain that way for the foreseeable future, You are free to configure your forum software the way you see fit. And I am sure that if Grunt, our administrator, thought if was necessary, he would activate that feature.
Since that feature is not activated on this site at this time and a workaround has been provided, convenient or not really doesn't matter, you can either live with it or not. It is your choice.

Another one late to the party... Look up a couple posts, Airman Save-a-Ho, where I said my question had already been addressed.
SRSLY, does anyone around here read before opening their soup cooler?

Oh he called me Sweetcheeks!:o PAAAAALEASE....get over yourself! Ya know, if ya can't stand it any more...then Walker away! We'll try to miss ya but I don't really see it happening...wait....naw, it won't happen. I could care less about forum software, really, I just know what we have to work with at this moment...too bad. I don't work on software...it bores me, that's where I call 1-800-tech-support, I work on the hardware end of computers.
I was kidding around about your abilities to comprehend, but I see you don't read between the lines either. You really need to be knocked of that pony you're riding; it's even a bit too big for you.

Forum's fine, it's you who's riding my last nerve. I invite you to look up a few posts as well, where you can clearly see that the issue was already addressed, well before you showed us how little you know. SRSLY, I'm answering only because I can't put a mod on ignore; unless you're talking to me about some policy violation I've committed just STFU; you don't rate to talk to me.

Okie dokie then, you are a piece of work! Go run your own forum if you're that savvy in the area of forum software. I never claimed to know it all, just how I handle the issue...but you sure like to B&M about every li'l thing. Is the font ok, how about the color, is your screen bright enough, maybe not enough smileys for you? Yeah, you rate alright...LMAO...but chit rates higher!

Wow, this forum is super duper neato. who remembers sunshine? back on oPeraShun tOnKa? ...another lonely woman MOD with no military service, behind a keyboard trying to impress her regulars with daring feats of courage by "taking on" real Marines and "holding her own" in typed skirmishes…with the ever present, garden variety military dude who enjoys sniffing her binary panties coming to her rescue...
~yawn~
...seems these "open" military-themed interweeb forums share some common characteristics.
a simple request answered with ignorance, fueled by a Jenny Craig induced e-road rage, I sez.

Uh huh, so your sniffing Walker's drawers as you come to his rescue? It was your long flowing hair that drew him to you right? I haven't seen too many 'real' Marines in here, yes, there have been a few...but you...I've seen better. And who to best pick up on ignorance than the king himself?
I work to maintain myself...Jenny had nothin' to do with it. Still chafes your nether regions that I'm in a place of authority, is it because I'm a woman or because I never put on the uniform? Hmmm...me still don't give a rats arse what you think!
Here we go, I'll lock the thread since the question was answered and you can go run and catch up with Walker, sounds like he has a wedgy!
