Has anyone heard of this competition? My ASI told us about it today. I think it looks pretty cool.

I hadn't heard about this, read through the PP and it's pretty cool. Will show this to my ASI.

Funny you bring this up now, I just heard about this competition a few days ago also. My school will be organizing a team for next year's competition, which should be pretty interesting because we've got some pretty network savvy people on it. I'm really interested in how it actually works, what equipment we will be running, and what our goals actually are.

So, if I understand this correctly..what it is, is one team pretty much tries to attack your network, and your goal is to stop them?

From what I've heard so far, there is a 'blue' team and 'red' team, and they alternate attacking a network and defending a network from each other. You are awarded points from a server within the network you are attacking or defending, but I have no idea how they are earned or distributed. I'm going to look into this a little deeper and find out some better info.

I went and talked to my SASI about it today, and turned out he had already heard about it and was going to talk to us about it soon - but I beat him to it. So we're most likely going to form a team....now all that's left is to figure out how it's played haha.

Swivel Chair Patrol

I beg your pardon. We take our service seriously, as the auxiliary of the United States Chair Force.

Come And Play
Come And Pay
Cadets At Play
Silver Hair Patrol (in reference to our older folks in the ranks)

It's more catchy than US Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet JROTC.

Oh my...

Easy there, PC. As far as JROTC programs go, none of you are ready for the Marines yet. As for the "acronym," I have never been a Marine, but quite a few of the Drill Sergeants I have worked with have been, and the general consensus is that there is not that much of a difference as far as serving goes. One of my good friends was a helicopter mechanic, and he later joined the Army as a wheeled mechanic and spent his AD time at Ft. Bragg. He said he experienced far more difficult tasks in the Army than anything other than boot camp in the Marine Corps.

Both services are honorable, each has its strengths and weaknesses. Neither should be disrespected.

Flyboy, the same applies to you.

No "disrespect" intended, DS. Just simple ribbing towards another Cadet.

I understand. A little inter-service rivalry is good for cameraderie, but it can go too far. I don't believe any of you have gone too far, and I understand your motivation towards the service that you want to serve in. Nothing wrong with that at all. These things can lead down the wrong path, however, if someone is sensitive.

Same here, no disrespect intended. Just making a joke. I know that all the services are needed equally and each should be respected.

Definitely understandable. And while it's kind of hard to separate "Army" from "Army JROTC" - I would never make any claim like that towards the actual military service.

No offense taken. It is a good thing that you already feel a strong sense of pride towards the service that you one day hope to join. I made similar comments as a junior enlisted member, and have witnessed first hand how they can degrade a situation from joking to hostility in a very short period of time. Pride can be expressed in many ways. All of you who have signatures with pictures of your "shadow box" (how do I get one of those, by the way) are showing pride in what you have done and what you hope to do. That is an outstanding way to show your pride.

...and to think, the Army's first on my list. I should be ashamed of myself.

PM inbound regarding sigs.

I have a couple images from rackbuilders I used to build my JROTC "shadow box" (never had one of the cool ones made by whoever does them). As far as my current sig line, I use militarysignatures.com for it. I have a paid membership, so I'm able to use the larger sized graphics.

Thanks for the info. It is small, but I think it will work for the forum.
