A friend sent this to me by email. These Marines, their families and the Marine Corps as an institution deserve the honors and America's gratitude.:salute:

Good find; keep up the good work!
It's amazing how good the recruiting program is for the US Marine Corps. The only good commercials I’ve seen for the US Air Force was when they were promoting PJs. The one where the kid jumps off a waterfall after a backpack then resurfaces in a wetsuit, at sea, during a storm.
The other services could learn a lot from watching the Marine Promotions.

Something that is not common knowledge is that recruiting advertising budgets are not approved by the Services but by the DOD. The advertising dollars are directly related to the difficulty in meeting recruiting goals. I suspect that the one PJ ad was related to PJ recruitment shortfalls. Whether you noticed or not, AF recruiting ads are rare.

I never paid attention to it until now. Thank you for enlightening me.

Thanks Wukong. A good video to watch.
And yes, it wasn't until recently that the Air Force had to spend any money for recruitment ads. As far as public relations are concerned, the Corps seems to always have the best PR. History, of course, has enabled this to happen....but Marine Corps commercials always seem to trample the competition. Even Harry Truman was (begrudgingly) surprised at the level that the Corps could lobby.

NOT to debate you or anything especialy since you're in more of a position to know than I am.
However according to at least 1 other place on the net there has been at least 1 other who has been granted the title of "Honorary Gunny"
Air Force Master Sgt. Teresa Clapper became an "honorary gunny sergeant" after becoming the first Airmen to graduate at the top of her class at the Marine Corps Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy Advance Course graduation Dec. 12 at Quantico, Va.

Why was an AF member going to a USMC Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy? Aren't the leadership styles tailored to the respective services? The article states that she volunteered to go because of a scheduling conflict, but can she really use her USMC leadership training in a USAF environment?

Why was an AF member going to a USMC Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy? I don't know Seminarian_Tim,
I was kind of hoping to get a little info from those who might know more on the subject.
Seems kind of strange does it not?
Of course the military does alot of things that confuses me as a civillian LOL

So what's the CORPS' excuse for the commercial of the guy fighting a lava monster? Never seen one of those on the battlefield.

You don't normally see them twirling guns out in the middle of the Grand Canyon, but it did make a point in the overall commericial.
I don't know how I missed this one before, but just watched video Wukong.
I'm still sniffling - that was so moving. I've never heard that story before.
Whoever put that together did such a wonderful job, the music was perfect.

This one summer in Iraq, the temp reached over 2000 degrees, and I swore I saw a Marine fighting a Lava monster with his bare hands and a K-Bar between his teeth. :D
