Im looking for the Battalion duties of a cadet SaSAI and what rank would this position hold in a Battalion? If anyone knows a link or knows first hand please post either.

What, I have never heard of that before. What is wrong with unit's know there's SaSAI and unit chaplians?

In my opinion they are just positions so people can get rank when all other postions are filled.

P.S. Another thing don't take any position into consideration when someone tell's you beside's your SAI and AI, it's probably not true.

It's actually a position I have seen before. I had one in my old unit. they tend to use them when either the staff is extremely busy or when the instructors are. This person's job is to relay information to either the staff or the instructors. This keeps the batallion commander from taking time to go meet with the SAI or AI, and work on something else.

I have never officially seen one as I would think the C/BC would be able to fill the role. However, if your unit has one, I would guess the rank of the position would be at the discretion of your SAI.

Look through it again! I know the Cadet Chaplain is in the NJROTC field manual (I know because I was a C/ Chaplain and I've read it in the manual.)

I've never heard a a assistant for the SAI/SNSI ect ect... I would probably say a NCO rank would be suitable. C/Sgt, C/SSGT or possible C/SFC

This is generally an Air Force JROTC position (for reasons I'll cover shortly), but it's not uncommon to see it elsewhere. As previously stated, it's a position that helps provide workload relief for the instructors. The position is usually outside the cadet corps structure, so the corps operations and instructor business are kept separate. There are three common ways to get put in this position, each with different rank assignment:

1) Position rotations. Since AFJROTC does rotations by the semester, they needed a place to put the old Corps Commander. Rather than moving them down, why not move them out? The old Corps Commander usually keeps their insanely high rank when they move; the first CO at my current school even got promoted when he moved.

2) Disciplinary reasons. Less common, but it happens. When a cadet in a higher staff position gets into trouble, they would be made a Special Assistant until the problem is resolved in lieu of losing everything. The cadet would (hopefully) keep their current rank.

3) Workload. This is a bit more common than the disciplinary reasons, but it depends on the instructors. Sometimes, you just need a little extra help. In these cases, a cadet is made a Special Assistant for the year. Rank can be anywhere and is usually fairly high for the cadet (saw a 2nd year c/1Lt as a Special Assistant; temporary rank, but it kept him above the influence of many trouble-making officers).

To my knowledge, this position is nowhere in any manuals, save a few old AFJROTC books, but this is what I've seen in my experience. Hope it helps.
