An Inspector visited our unit today. Colonel B. He was really funny and a pretty cool guy. Who else has had inspectors visit them?

My corps was going to have our inspection this year but AFJROTCHQ changed the inspection rotations from two years to every three, so ours will be next year. How did it go?

Ours is coming up on 4/1/2009. We where supposed to have it on 3/25/2009 but juniors have to take the Georgia High School Graduation test(3/25/2009 is also the fifth year anniversary of my grandfather's death)

It was pretty good. Our Group Commander gave him the powerpoint briefing and he mainly asked her questions. But me and several others had to go up and explain our staff positions and the organizational binders we use. But the real icing on the cake was when the two drill team commanders went up and didn't get a chance to say three sentences before he just stood up and said, "Let's see what you've got" and we had to do an impromptu performance for him. It all pulled together well though. He said that there was no room for improvement within our unit and that we looked great. For the duration of the period though, he mainly talked about the mlilitary and how he did things with his life.

Some of the older cadets say there is a regional inspection where real Marines come out and give you an inspection, but I don't know when this will be.

That is correct fields. AJROTC units get inspected every 3 years. You may want to ask or look up how MCJROTC does it. Ours was this year but was postponed due to the re-alligning of Cadet Command.

I remember my Staff assissted visit. We had been working for weeks to make sure our crap was straight. Then the day it was to all go down, we had a snow day. The command staff decided to brave the weather and come in and give the presentation anyway. All went well in the end. He said our unit was doing good, and we recieved the Distinguished unit award. All our hard work paid off in the end.

Our inspector visited us this year. It was horrible from my prospective as the deputy commander. He massacred our officers with questions and intentionally made us seem stupid. Our SASI was very unhappy with him. He gave us writeups with no reasoning behind them and basically told us we would have gotten a distinguished unit with merit if we hadn't been a small school. Our SASI told us we did outstanding even though the inspector was biased. It was an outstanding experience though and it helped me learn alot about organizing and presenting information.

Our inspector is coming next year, and our AS2 class is going to be representing our unit. That'll be my class next year, which I'm a bit nervous about. I know that myself, and another progressed AS1 cadet will be breifing our Inspector, but other than us, there's only 2 or 3 other AS1 cadets who I believe able to successfully present our Unit in a manner in which the Inspector would find exceptional. Not trying to bash my class...just the way things are sometimes.

Does your upperstaff not represent your unit? That is the way we do it, not a particular year rather, but by position. Our briefing contained our four squadron commanders, group, deputy, and our E2C (pt/training) commander. The inspector visited each class and evaluated the SASI and ASI accordingly and we got our evaluations through the presentations.

AS2 cadets give a drill performance for all HQ sent inspectors. Many times units will use those very same to brief the inspector.

Well from what our SASI and ASI have told us, they're only going to inspect 1 class, and they chose our AS2 class to inspect next year. I'm sure our 2 Commanders will be present, but other than that it'll be myself, and another Cadet who brief the inspector. I thought this was sorta weird myself. In my opinion, our Commanders, Executive Staff, and Flight Leader's should be the ones to brief them.

Oh. Thats nifty. What we do is have all of the flights prepared to perform and pray that it isnt the first year class that fits in the schedule. Usually our SASI schedules it for our third and fourth year class to show off lol.

Well that's a shred of light. Myself and the Cadet who will do the breifing with me, are the only 2 Freshmen who made it onto our Units Exhibition Drill team.

I would rather it be our AS3 or 4 class that has to do it. Our AS4 class this year would have been flawless for sure, and I'm a bit disappointed the inspection didn't come this year and inspect them.

Yeah, fortunatly for us we got our As3 and As4 class to perform. Unfortunatly he was very biased and unjustly wrote us up for things, and left no proof or reasoning for the write up. Luckily we still got our distinguished unit award for the year.

It won't be an exhibition routine, it will the 31 drill sequence (most likely). Better get ready for command, the sequence is rapid fire and pretty technical.

That sucks, I hope our inspector isn't like that. Couldn't your SASI/ASI said something if they had suspected a biased view from the inspector?

Hmm, I wasn't expecting it to be a Exhibition routine. What I meant was our class already has a lot of experience with Drill. (Our exhibition team got 1st place at a meet on Saturday.)

He has tried the past few years. We have had the same inspector for 4 years. He has given us good ratings just not as good as they could have been because of our size.

Hmm, well it could be because of your unit's size. Or it could be that your SASI doens't write up a well enough yearly report for your unit. Either way, it seems like your SASI could take it up with AFJROTCHQ and get a straight answer.
