Well, for the past 11 days I've been without electricity and hot water. Last week's ice storm was brutal. My newborn got sick, but thank God he's fine now. And thanks to some out of town help my lights got turned back on today. So, if you were a part of the National Guard units sent to Kentucky I give you my thanks for your help, as well as the out of town electric companies for their help.

Rabbit,
My cousin has been 'on the line' for over 25 yrs and he tells me your storm tops them all. He mentions the good people who live there that helped his crew. I'll tender your thoughts.
Easy Brother,

Obviously due to global warming and George W. Bush, right?

Glad you all got through it.

Obviously due to global warming and George W. Bush, right? LOL. There wasn't anything "globally warm" about this particular situation. Forecasts aren't looking good for the end of the month, possibly more ice storms. Today the high was 70 degrees and we're looking at some thunderstorms now. This is nothing new though, Kentucky has always had weird weather...even before global warming was thought of.

Hopefully, my power will not go out again.

We always seem to get at least one of those a year in parts of NY State. Keeps everyone hopping to be sure.

I am glad your newborn is better. It is so tough when the littlest ones come down with something on top of everything else. Thank goodness for mutual aid from the other Power Companies and such.

Good Luck!

I remember a few years back receiving 4" of ice, you never get use to that eerie cracking sound as the trees gave way. We've been a bit luckier this year, more snow than ice but the season's not over yet.

Those Tstorms just rolled through, dang that wind hit the house like a freight train, sounded like it too. Can't wait to see how much standing water's out there in the morning...suppose to be bad with all of the melted snow already filling creeks and rivers.

Good luck!
