Just remember it is possible, when necessary, to completely hide behind a single grain of sand. Keep your eyes open and your 'six' covered, and it's always better to be the one raising the glass than the one they're raised in memory of.

Best of luck, and remember the (military) Golden Rule: Do onto others before they can do onto you!

Thanks for the well wishes.

Got into Kandahar Airfield a few days ago, safe and sound, and here for a couple more days before I head out to the poopy end of the stick

Cheers!

Update..

Currently on a 2 week leave after having spent the last 3 months in the southern part of Afghanistan.

Enjoying some time in France with my wife, before heading back to the grind.

Noticing some stuff here, and to tell you the truth, it's kind of making me laugh.

A lot like going to a Legion, and having the current gen soldiers and old-gen soldiers arguing about soldiering.

Enjoy your stay. I loved my time in the North Country over there.

Thanks, we've seen quite a bit of Paris so far, going to the South of France pretty soon, going to enjoy some beach.

Saw the French Military Museum, not that much there :D (joking aside, it was pretty interesting), and was lucky enough to see this display going on:

Pretty interesting, actually.

Paris, what a ****hole. Unless you stayed over at the Airport, the food was pretty good over there, well, it was SUPREME!

At least it was better than the Dying Bird's eatery... Good ole yank chow that makes you FAT FAT FAT!

lol, true, the genuine assholes of Europe, but the architecture is something you have to see if you're here.

Well, unfortunately done with leave, and got back to Afghanistan yesterday, so I won't be on as much.

I'll try to hop on from time to time.

Well, it's been a busy couple of months.

After getting back into Afghanistan from leave, I was almost immediately sent off to a FOB down near the Pakistani border, and then, for the last 2 months spent some time in the Arghandab district of Kandahar, at a remote outpost, patrolling, clearing compounds, Coordinating with Afghan security forces, and of course, being the radio guy, calling in arty and Close-Air on the bad guys.

Back at KAF for a few days before headed back out again.

I'm sure I've missed a lot, so anyone wanna give me a quick run-down?

Des, next time you go wheels-down in Paris, hop a train down to Marseilles or Toulon. Much nicer people in those towns, and they truly love the military.

Only good time I had in Paris was at Jim Morrison's grave.
