1.) What does it mean when it says the CAP unit type is composite?
2.) Is the meeting day for people who want to join to go to and ask questions specifically or what?

1) A "composite" squadron is one that conducts both senior member (adult) and cadet programs. A cadet squadron only does cadet things and a senior squadron only does adult things.

2) The meeting night each week is where the requirements for CAP participation get completed. As a cadet you would attend this weekly meeting and do cadet things like drill, achievement testing, character development, leadership training, aerospace, etc.

Try visiting www.gocivilairpatrol.com there is a unit locator and some more information there. Your best bet is to contact your local unit and arrange a time that you can go see what it is about and decide if you want to join.

Be aware though that units are different - so if you don't quite like the first one, try another one.

Almost every squadron will allow visitors during regular meeting hours. It would be extremely difficult to find a squadron that doesn't allow weekly visitors who want to join. Some squadrons also hold open houses. It just depends on the specific schedule of the squadron you're looking at.

Find a unit close to you that you're interested in (via the links CAPSmith provided) and contact one of the squadrons commander's and find out how they work joining their specific squadron.

As long as it's a Cadet or Composite squadron, you'll be fine. There are no Cadets in Senior squadrons.
